What is Reseller Hosting ?

December 9th, 2007 Comments off

Reseller hosting is a better way of starting your own web hosting solution. Juts get a reseller hosting account from good web hosting provider and set up some payment gateway and sell your own web hosting plans. You will have to provide support to your clients. Your reseller clients will never have any direct contact with the actual web hosting company, they don’t even have to know that you are not running the servers. The actual web hosting provider stays in the background and they will run the servers for your customers and provide support to you whenever you need that.

What is the difference between a dedicated server and co-location hosting ?

September 17th, 2007 Comments off

A dedicated server is a server provided by a web hosting services providing company on rent. You have remote access to the server and you can customize the server to your own requirements. The web host retains ownership of the server and you don’t have actual physical access to the server. Colocation hosting means you store your own server at a facility of a co-location hosting provider. A co-location hosting provider provides an Internet connection to your web server and allows you physical access to your own server when you need it.

Hosting your web sites on your own dedicated web server may seem a little expensive in comparison to shared web hosting, but the end result is more advantageous. Shared web hosting, (many sites are present on the same servers hard drive) no matter how well managed, cannot be 100% reliable and stable. On a dedicated hosting server you will install only software and applications you need, while on a shared hosting server you will find a host of other software and applications installed for all other web server users.
